This figure illustrates winsorizing a set of values.

The figure shows a data set that has a normal distribution (a bell-shaped curve).

Winsorzing removes the tails of the distribution (those values with a distance of several standard deviations from the mean) and divides the rest of the distribution into bins of equal width. The figures illustrates these two processes.
